About

There’s an old warning to “never trust a skinny chef.” Well, I guess I’d make a trustworthy chef (which is somewhat appropriate, given my passion for cooking and good food).

Yep, I’m a foodie. I’m a lot of things, in fact. I’m married. I’m a former member of DeMolay International, though I have no recollection of it. I’m a grad student (in my spare time). I’m a worship leader. A provocateur. A lover, rarely a fighter (unless I’m fighting with my love).

I’m a writer, a photographer, an ethnographer, a web developer; actually, I participate in activities that imply that I’m each of these, but I’ve yet to learn the skills needed to be any of them well.

I talk a lot

I tend to ramble, and my thoughts are divided among many interests. Thus, I try to write them all down, and categorize them according to themes:

JRCollier.com
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already discovered what the site has to offer. These are my thoughts about and explorations of leadership, religion and other broad concepts.
TasteFresno
Food is a passion and a hobby, both of which are fueled by Fresno’s diverse cultures. TasteFresno is an exploration of the flavors found here, and is open to the community.
South of Sunnyside
I live on the outer edge of the city, in a fairly new neighborhood that borders one much more established—you guessed it: Sunnyside. South of Sunnyside offers a (sometimes irreverent) view of life as a homeowner, husband, owner of three pets, and much more.

About James (R.) Collier

My thoughts are somewhat random, as I still don't know what I want to be, when I grow up (if you've got any ideas, I'm open for suggestions). For now, I'm resolved that somewhere inside of me there's an artist, suppressed by a fear of someone else's perception, unwilling to accept the thought of being unaccepted.
